Why G-NETS
Our Vision
For a Better Future, for a Sustainable World
In our current “age of cities,” challenges such as intensifying natural disasters and the climate crisis are appearing with ever-increasing urgency in urban areas. To address these shared global issues, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) established the Global City Network for Sustainability (G-NETS). While strengthening intercity collaboration and knowledge-sharing with cities worldwide, we aim to create a sustainable society.

How G-NETS Works
G-NETS prioritizes intercity collaboration and the sharing of knowledge. To address global challenges, discussions are held at three different perspective levels: working-level staff, senior officials, and city leaders. In addition to hosting dedicated meetings for each level, we also implement joint projects including mutual site visits and online discussions in Tokyo and participating cities for technical exchange and the sharing of cutting-edge initiatives, and startup collaborations to tackle urban challenges and drive innovation.
